Welcome to Barry Blanchard, Mountain Guide. I’ve had a lifelong love affair with the Canadian Rockies. This range is in my blood and it’s a privilege for me to guide people rock climbing, ice climbing, ski touring, and mountaineering here. The Canadian Rockies are one of the great mountain ranges of the world and I invite you to come and experience them - these mountains are a gift! I am a fully certified international Mountain Guide, IFMGA/UIAGM, (the International Federation of Mountain Guiding Associations) as well as a member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) since 1983. I am also a professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association. My guiding career evolved from my passionate love of climbing. Since 1981, when I worked as an ice climbing instructor for the first time, I have logged nearly 3000 days as a guide and instructor, and yes, I still like my job. I love what I do. I specialize in the Canadian Rockies from the front ranges of Mount Yamnuska, the Kananaskis Valley, and Ghost River; through the Bow Valley areas of Canmore, Banff National Park, and Lake Louise; and farther north to the Wapta Icefield, Columbia Icefield, Jasper National Park, and Mt Robson.

To the west I commonly climb and ski in Kootenay National Park, Yoho National Park, Mt Assiniboine, Glacier National Park, and the Bugaboos. Just to name some of the Canadian classics that I’m passionate about guiding:
… And then there’s the rock climbing, ice climbing, and ski touring … I’m in the business of helping you realize your mountain dreams, so contact me and I’ll tell you how to make them happen.
